Used Mobility Scooters - How To Choose The Right One

Mobility scooters are in high demand and prices can still be steep. While this might put off potential buyers, there is an alternative. What is it?

Used mobility scooters.

Most used mobiility scooters were previously owned by people who received the units from Medicare and no longer need them. This has resulted in a wide open market with plenty of options at reasonable prices for those interested in buying a used scooter. The Internet, your local newspaper classifieds, even local garage sales are great places to go searching.

One of the best places to find great deals on scooters is eBay. Here's where to get started: Used Scooters

Before you start looking, however, it's best to know what you're looking for. Will you be using the scooter both indoors and outdoors? What features would you like to have with your scooter? Light weight, responsive, and easy to transport? Narrow width? Swivel seat? Drop in battery? Flat free tires? Flip back arm rests? Easy to disassemble? Quiet operation? Adjustable seat? Headlight package? 300 lb weight capacity or greater?

As with any purchase, get the scooter's history. How was it previously used? How long did the person own it? Does it have any damage? How is the battery? When was the last time it was used. Why are they selling it? What's its mileage? Have there been any repairs done on the scooter? Is it still covered by a warranty? How much do they want for it? These are all important questions to ask before moving forward with a purchase.

These are the same type of questions you would ask if you were purchasing a used vehicle.

When it comes to owning your own scooter, there's no need to go overboard with the expense. With a little ingenuity, you can find the perfect used mobility scooter at more than half the cost. Just be patient in your search and take advantage of marketplaces such as eBay.
